Need help - Need to check coil packs

My SES light was on, and the codes I got from it were [bad knock sensor] [cylinder 1 misfire]. I heard these two codes in conjunction usually meant your coilpack was bad. So I'm thinking I'll swap out the coils for cylinder 1 and 3 and see if I get a new code. My question is - where exactly are the coilpacks, and how do I remove / insert them?

The coil pack is what makes the spark plugs fire on a timed pattern controlled by the ECU. It sits right ontop of each spark plugs making a connection to the plug's insulated end. The rear bank is located in-between the runners of the intake manifold, there's three of them. You'll see a black wire going to a coil connector, each coil packs have this. The front bank is under the plastic decorative facia (right below the oil filler hole ontop of the engine) that has the Nissan 3.0 V6 emblem. You'll have to remove the allen screws that holds that cover down, then remove it and you will see 3 of them under there. There is a how-to on how to change spark plugs (I can't find it right now) but the procedure would be the same as replacing the coil packs.

I found the link: http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=33

It's got pictures too. Step #7 is for the front bank coil packs, you'll see the coil packs hang down by its own coil wires. Step #17 is for the rear bank coil packs. Have fun!

I believe cylinders 1 & 3 are at the rear bank. Cylinder 6 is at the front. I had two coil packs go bad on mine (at 115k miles). It's pretty typical for the coil packs to go bad around those kinds of mileage. I got mine at Autozone for $65 each. Dealers charge $80 or $100 for each.

I think the order is this:

rear bank (right):

1 3 5

front bank (left):

2 4 6
