Antenna Mast/Cable Replacement

Got a couple of questions here about replacing my antenna mast or cable.

For a 1996 Model.

-I followed the Hayne manual and after removing the antenna nut, I couldn't simply pull out the mast as they instruct, so I pulled out the whole unit, it looks like the mast it stuck by some black plastic end piece. How are you supposed to pull out the mast?

-Is it possible to just replace the antenna cable or do I have to replace the mast and the cable at the same time, the only problem i'm having is the cable snapped and the antenna goes only halfway up and can't retract.

If so, is there a link for intructions?

Thanks! I need my radio back...

To the Max.....

Not sure if there's a link for instructions, but I think you have to replace the mast/cable as a one-piece assembly.

To get it to come out, make sure you have the radio on, so the motor is trying to extend the antenna. Mine came right out. Replacing it should be easy - just turn the radio off, so the motor tries to pull the cable in - then feed the cable in so the teeth start grabbing.
