Newbie - Good first modifications?

I'm new to the Maxima scene so tell me a few good first modifications. From what I have seen the Y-Pipe and CAI are two good places to start. I would like to keep the modifications to a minimum since it is my daily driver. I wouldn't rule out a small (50) shot of nitrous just to stir up some fun. The car in question is a 1997 GXE Auto with 100k on it.

Welcome to the .org! The FAQs, and this site:

http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php

are a must-read...I have learned so much from those. After that, anything else you want to know is just a post away. But yeah, I'd say Ypipe, CAI (or at least K&N filter...that's an easy mod that adds some fun and power), and Rear Sway bar (RSB) and FSTB (front strut tower brace). Enjoy your Max...it's a great car, especially for a daily driver/toy as well. That's what mine is too.

Hey John, welcome to the org. I used to have a friend in sumter. Probably a long shot, but you wouldn't happen to know Nick Finotti?
About the mods, what are you into: performance or looks?

hey man, im from cayce. hope to see you around. if you do the red/clear taillights, dont do them yourself, buy the ones off CustomMaxima. the other day i saw a guy w/ ones he did and it looked like $h!t. dont do it, resist the temptation. hope to see you around.
btw, smoked a modded 98-00 accord (intake, exahust) tonight. had him by more than a cars worth in half a block going up hill, plus he jumped the light. ahhh gotta love the VQ, am i wrong???

first mod you should do is rewire your corner lights. it's free and makes a hell of a difference. also do the ghetto intake by taking out all the piping from the bottom half of the filter box forward. zip tie the filter into the top half of the airbox. it makes the car sound cool until you can get a cai or hybrid intake.
and all of you who are planning on flaming me for suggesting that...i know you tried it at least once.

what the hell are yo talkin about....do it yourself...it is smarter. The CM migh tlooks alittle better not that big of a differnce. But if you do it correctly i lookes just as good. When i did mine i spent alittle itme and go a great result!

rewire fogs - awsome idea. This is one of the best mods i did. i love it and every maxima owner at gass stations asks me know i get them to do that.

y-pipe and a CAI are a good start. Those mods are what most orgers go with. You probably will see a firm ~15hp or more with the combo.
