help with an amplifier
I know this is a Maxima Forum, but I didn't know where else to look for advice. Any info you all could provide would be greatly appreciated.
So I've just put in my tight sound system and everything's good to go... except that there's a problem with the speaker sound and I don't know how to adjust my amp to fix it (one of my friends gave it to me and I don't have instructions). It's a four channel amp (Phoenix Gold QX 4150) and all the connections are okay (I checked and double checked then had a friend check). THe problem is that there's a choppy noise that's constantly present during every song, sort of a whirring. Also, I have component speakers in the front and I'm having trouble getting much output from the tweeter. Basically, even when it plays music, there's a wind sound that it also makes (a sound very similar to a sound if you cranked up your CD player at the end of a song when there's no music, but it almost just magnifies the silence or something).
The amplifier controls just confuse the hell out of me. There are four *****, labeled "Front Sens", "Rear Bass", "Rear Freq", and "Rear Sens" and then another **** that has the following settings (?) on it (you can click the **** at each setting): FRONT SOURCE-125 Hz HP, 90 Hz HP, Full Range REAR SOURCE-Front options, 30-600 Hz, Full Range. I've kind of tried playing around with all of these, but without much luck.
Also, the power wires go down the opposite side of the car from the speaker and RCA wires, so there should be no interference.
If you have any advice on where to look for instructions on how to work an amp or just general advice as to how I might go about fixing this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it.
