Air cond leak rate?????

Whats your experinece with Maxima air conditioners as to how often you have to add freon?
My 99 still cools but not as cold.
never added freon gas to date
is it normal say to have to add a 1/2 pound or so every few years?
Old GM cars used to lose a pound a year (almost)

The a/c system is a sealed system and freon is never supposed to leave the system unless you have a leak somewhere. I recc. taking it in to an authorized shop to have checked out with a/c dye for a leak

not really

the compressor shaft seal is the leak point
its rotating and is very efficient but still leaks.
unlike a refriferator which is truly sealed
