Extend Keyfob range?
#2
You have the right idea. There are only 2 ways to extend the range, either get a better antenna/improve the old one or more power on the transmitter. (This is from my old amateur radio days)
Finding the receiver antenna in the car and improving it would probably be the easiest and cheapest. The FSM should have the location, then its just a matter of finding out the frequency and making an antenna with higher gain.
It would be a lot easier if someone has done it previously but you may have to pioneer on your own.
btw I have done this on my portable telephone and it works quite well.

That is what I doo. I still have the factory batt, so it does not go far w/o me.
When it was new it would go about 100-150 feet.

That's makes some sense but, the microchip or whatever inside the keychain isn't directly touching you, doesnt the plastic make a difference?
ALSO... If this does work, It can only increase the output range of the keyfob. Does this mean that range is limited more by the actual keychain?
Thanks...
