Can Ignition coils cause issues without getting CEL ??
Hey guys, me again...
I still have that flat spot between 2000 and 2600 rpm, it seems the torque/hp curves stop at that rpm and then start to rise again after that... I don't have any CEL codes at all and I check frequently... Could I still have ignition coil issues and no codes ? I had a knock sensor code a while ago and 2 ignition coils codes. We changed the KS and unplugged and plugged every coil back in and the codes never came back... Could they still be bad ?
Thanks in advance !

Pop charger, that's it for now !

Most definitely. In fact, when I had knocking on my max (generally noticeable when going up a hill around 2-3k rpm), I brought it into a stealership and they said that I needed new coils. If you're lucky enough to have a code you can just replace one, but in my case I had to either go through them one at a time systemetically to see which it was, or replace the lot. I knew they were crap anyway so I replaced the lot.
Do it yourself - don't pay the stealership

usually around $60-80 depending on where you buy them
Cheapest I found are at Pinnacle Nissan.
$60.45 for Mitsubishi coils
Hanshin is the coil that went out on my car so I didn't go back to it for replacement.

I can get a deal on some used coils.. which would save me a S**tload of money... 200bucks, canadian for 6 of them. From a 1998 max 63000km. They were all tested and garanteed to work. I think I'll try that out, they are like 150 here each at the dealership !!
If I'm lucky, 6 out of 12 will be good !!
Anyone know a good way of testing them except what's described in Haynes ? (I do have Haynes manual...)

I'm finally getting mine for 175, canadian dollars and the guy lives a couple kms from my place... Instead of 150 us and having to get them shipped...
Makes it hard to get my money back if they are DOA... hehe

this hesitation...
Is it when your driving normaly that the rev kinda slows and your car speed up but not like it should?
but if you keep pushing the pedal farther, instead of speading up smoothly it kinda just punches it? not WOT, unless you go that far...but close to it?
is this the flat power your talking about? i have that as well...but i dont know what it is...i just got the car...so i dont know
