I have had my SE for about 4 years now and it has 122K miles. I really like the car and want to keep it, but a problem that it has always had may be reaching the point where it is intolerable. I think the previous owner dumped the car because it would have random problems starting. Some times it would start right away; sometimes it would crank for a few extra seconds before starting that then surge up to 1500RPM, nearly stall and then back to 1500RPM for about 10 seconds before smoothing out. It is not that big of a deal, but kind of annoying.

Recently, now that the weather is warming up in So. Cal., the car has died completely about 4-5 blocks from work at the end of the day or on the way to lunch. It will take a few seconds of cranking to get it started again, but once it does it stays running without any symptoms. It has only done this about 5 times in that last month.

Has anyone experienced anything like this or have any trouble shooting suggestions?

Gee Tim,
I would think that someone on this list would have seen this problem before. Can you do a search of the list? Or do you have the same problem I do with a message saying you have to contribute $ in order to have the search feature?
