Hello everyone. I am new to the board. Just came over here to see what is going on. I am not trying to start anything with anyone. I own a 2000 Contour SVT. Mods are Borla cat back, open K&N filter, B&M shifter. Best 1/4 mile time is 14.7 at 92.6. What are some of the times you guys run?

My best stock time was 15.4. Then after a while of practicing my launches, I finally got it down to a 15.2. Yes it is a 5spd.

Nice ride...

Welcome! I like those Contours. I considered one but I am 6'5" and needed the little extra room of the max. I really liked the wheels of the Contour and it's handling. I wished it had a little more torque down low...but then again it's built to race.

I didn't know they were that fast.. but i have a question.. since your traps are kind of low for the 1/4 mile at 14.7 does that mean your car produces alot of low end torque? because my friend ran the same 14.7 in his GS400 but his traps were like 96 - 97, and its an Auto and RWD so not much driver error on that.. but as it is now.. when we race I usually get him off the line and up to 70 then he starts to pull away (Power Mode of course) so back to my original question...

When I had my car dynoed at stock, I had 162 hp and 152 ft lbs of torque at the wheels. My max tq is at 3500 rpm. That is usually when the secondaries open up. When I street race, after I hit about 3000-3500 my car really opens up. I think it is because of the way my air filter is set up. It is K&N filter, with no housing and no air silencer. It is held on by binder clips.

ok so i guess you have low end torque... for such low speeds and low numbers you must launch very well..

any tips and tricks you have to launching when drag racing you might wish to share?

I launch at 5k. Actually I hold the rpm`s at 5k, then when it turns green, I slip the clutch to hold the rpm at 3500 or so. The reason, tq at that rpm. I usually get any wheel spin and get a good launch. I also learned to powershift in the car. Easy shift into 2, then it is powershifting the reat of the way, whether it is a track or street. I practiced many of times in the school parking lot working on my launches and shifts.

Like i;ve said before, welcome svt2000. Time vary all along here.

The automagic guys with a CAI run 15.7-15.6. The autos with intake and exhaust run 15.3-15.2 (or like Don and run a 14.2) The autos with S/C and mods run around 13.5 A couple of autos with NOS (40-60shot)and basic mods are 14.0 and we ahve our all might Don as mentioned about (Don in Texas) who prolly has the fastest max so far with a 12.9 and doing a big motor build up.

The 5 speed guys wiht CAI run 15.3-15.1 With intake and exhaust they run 14.9-14.7 some faster. I dont know how fast the S/Ced 5 speeds are but Phil96SE has prolly the fastest S/Ced (I maybe wrong here too). THere are also a few guys with sticks, basic mods and NOS that are in the 13's somewhere (like Sx7R).

It varies alot here b/c of mods and driver abilities.

We do have some guys that stand out a lot.

My4DSC ran a 14.8 w/ 18" and a K&N intake on his 2k max 5 speed. I thought that was damn good for a almost stock max.

I've seen 4th gens run a 14.8 w/ exhaust only 5 speed

And we have Sprint who ran a 15.1 w/ CAI only in his 97max 5 speed.

Don in Texas with his 4th gen max that ran a best of 12.9 in his *auto*

There are many guys that stand out here. Sorry if i didnt mention you and you felt you should be known as well. I am only mentioning guys that have good times w/ little mods. Dont take this post personal guys.

That`s how it is over on our board. People running different times with different mods. It all depends on the driver to. I have very little mods done to my car, but I practiced a lot and now I want MORE!!! Their are a couple of s/c contours, but nobody has given a time yet. Some have said 250 hp, 195 ft/ibs tq. If I had the money, I would defintely hace the s/c.

Thanks for welcoming me guys.
