Underconstruction for 2004... Need opinions

Well this up coming summer I plan to do the following, since I do want to be one of the fastest all motor maximas in TX. I already have the following, what else am I missing?

Already have:

Warpspeed: Y-pipes
Unorthodox: Under Drive Pulley
Ebay: Cold Air Intake (with flex tube)
Mobiletek: VB mode
Haynes: Tranny Cooler

This coming summer I'm interested in getting the following:

Port and Polish (what is it, heads, valves? pistons?)
Protorque: Torque Converter
TechnoSquare: ECU
K&N Filter: for the intake

What else am I missing? I want to go all motor, and hit 14.5 or lower? Is the achivevable? I have 148,000 miles, I do need the following thou

NGK sparks
Fix my Knock Sensor
find a working Relay for my A/C Compressor
Tune up

Any suggestions would help. THanks

You're auto so I doubt you'll see that with just those mods. Maybe you will but who knows. Do it and you'll see. Anyway, to have a better chance at getting there you'll need the JWT ecu and the MEVI. Seeing that you're an auto not sure how that will work out.

yeah, you need that raised rev limiter with the JWT ECU, so that the MEVI can take advantage of it.

I also don't know what it will do with an auto. I would personally not try all that stuff with an auto, but I just don't trust auto tranny myself. I have had bad experiences with them.

do you have a custom catback? If not get a nice flowing 2.5" system with a good flowing muffler for a few more hps

I'm you said your gonna port and polish and then said pistons, valves, head? My advice is to research your car and cars in general before you start this project. By the way, you p&p the head, shave the valves and either purchase pistons that will increase your compression (N/A application) or lower your compression (boosted applications).

Swap to 5spd and you'll have 14.5 easily with your current mods.

to be honest, I don't think you'll ever get there. It all depends on what you mean by saying "one of the fastest". If it's "one of the 5 fastest", then NO. If it's like "one of the 20 fastest", then perhaps. I say this for a number of reasons:

1) You must realize that EVERYBODY with the same car but a 5-spd and the same exact mods you list will always be faster.

2) There are mods which you did not account for such as a MEVI, which from what I have heard greatly improve top end. In the midst of all this, there are many "custom" mods which you really cannot account for, made by the "big" enthusiasts who like to spend their day cleaning pistons and rods with a toothbrush.

3) ...........well now, there's ALWAYS someone faster

anyway, I wish you luck.

catback would be an obvious one and possibly headers if you got the money. Ive also read stuff about porting TB or getting the pathfinder TB, mevi as well. weight reduction, and lightweight wheels too. btw-coilovers weigh alot less than springs

First of all you won't be the fastest until you start hitting below a 12.6 currently that is what David6601 from Brownsville is running so...haha

Now NismoMaxMan...
I've said this before, why get the mevi when we will not be running around the Valley at 120-140 mph. I feel that people get MEVIs for bragging rights to a reasonably hard to get mod. Now if you pair up the MEVI w/ a turbo I'm sure you'd embarass Danny95. Personally I say go Technosquare since it would benefit you more i.e. you'll mostly be drag racing and the ecu improves torque which will help get your a$$ off the line. And I'm sure you won't be running 120-130 mph at the track anytime soon.
Now the port and polish should theoretically give you some good HP gains. John Paul did that for David's but only did the exhaust. A G-H-E-T-T-O Job as John Paul usually does. You'd have to take out the heads and have them sent off...there is supposed to a be a considerable amount of down time during this process anywhere from 2-3 weeks amybe more I'm not sure. But I'm sure if you get this done it would improve your car dramatically.
You should already be running a K&N Air Filter with your intake. Go and spend that "whole" $40 on the filter.
If I'm not mistaken I do not believe that our cars can or use the torqu converter.
Yes get the Knock Sensor fixed ASAP. That may help but why drive with a screwed up one. and buy a new one don't get a used one of one of David's motors.
You should be running NGK plugs already those are the plugs needed for the car. (I should get mine too)
Now if you wanna get real serious have the A/C taken out, it just uses up HP and it will lighten the car. Some recently posted about that, apparently there were some decent gains. But we do live here in South Texas, quite hot. and humid.
Have you been using the VP Fuel at the track? A lil pricey but should help.

I've personally fallen off the whole modding thing but I still want to fix a few things. But hey good luck. Some of these things are quite pricey and require time, patience and a good size wallet. I don't know what else to say that might help you....Good Luck!

I would take a VQ35DE crank and put it in your VQ30DE motor. It increases your displancemnet to 3.3 liters i think. Also, reduce the weight in your drive train. i think every pound of weight taken off of your drive line will give you about 3 - 5 hp, but i am not sure, maybe invest in a flywheel or raxels. Just my 2 cents, good luck with your mods

You obviously know nothing about the MEVI and have never driven a max that had one.

If you don't know what your talking about your better off not posting anything at all.

Add lighter piston and connecting rods. Titanium valves and rods. JDW cam shaft has a more aggesive profile. I just had an idea for a new post.
