is it possible to use stock nissan ballasts say from 2003 maxima and just buy the bulbs?

 

depending on which hid bulbs you want to use with the maxima ballast, if you plan on using the factory maxima hid bulbs then it will work, but usually different hid brands are not interchangable, cause the wire harness on the hid bulb has to be able to fit into the ballast, and it's not a good idea to try splicing wires on hid kits cause they are supposed to have a water tight seal and you will most likely have problems. your probably better off getting an aftermarket kit for your car like hella or mcculloch.

i was just thinking maybe get an oem kit from junkyard. i assume it's cheaper then aftermarket. but will the 2k+ hid bulbs fit 4th gen?
