RE-Badging Emblems

A while ago, I shaved the "MAXIMA" emblems off my trunk. After a while, I kinda missed them, so I went out and bought some Plastic Emblem & Trim Adhesive. I'd be out putting them on right now if there wasn't this warning on the back of the product that reads:

NOTE: Avoid getting adhesive on surrounding painted surfaces.

My question is, will this product be safe for my paint or not?

Most likely they tell you to aviod getting it on surrounding paint cause it will be next to impossible to get it back off. That just my $.02 thou.
