So, my Engine exploded at 120 mph.....
damn that sucks to hear man, but it is a pretty cool story cause you dont hear that happening everyday. but in my opinion id say fix the maxima and get a bike, with the way gas prices keep rising, well in atlanta atleast, im not goin to be able to afford to drive my car anymore, i already pay like $35 to fill it all the way up!!
Hey man, I just thought of something. Since our block is Aluminium you could bring it to a recycling plant and get some $$$ for it. Here the plant gives $.32/Ib if its over 100 Ibs. If its under you only get $.30 but the block is definitely more than that. Any thoughts on what the block weighs. Somewhere around 200? So that gives you about $60 to put toward your new engine.
Man I feel your pain, I blew mine at the track but I was running N20 and there was no hole in the block. Matter of fact, I drove the car home minus one cylinder. I thibnk the piston failed in that cylinder. Now my honda civic exploded similar to yours but I had four holes in the block, I thew all four rods. I got pics if you want them.
Anyways, I got a mxima engine with 59k miles for 450+tax and got it dropped in for 300$. Those vq's are everywhere and desperately looking for an engine bay to call home. Good luck and if you need help, holla!

Well not today, all of a sudden about 2-3 minutes after pulling onto the highway my engine rpms just drop alil maybe 1k and the car begins to stutter alil next thing i know i hear debris hitting the bottom of my car and the rpms drop to 0 (all this happened in about 3-5 seconds) so i pull over to the side of the road, and open my hood, and white smoke comes pluming out from the bottom of the engine....so i drop to my knees and i see flames shooting out of a 3 inch hole in the bottom of my engine block and i'm like OH BOY this i gonna be fun!.... Then i look back down the highway to where about the problem started happening hoping i'd see a part or something to let me know what went wrong, instead i see a brush fire in the median, that one of my flaming parts started....So i call 911 and they say they've already gotten a call and there sending the fire department, which was good cause it turned into about a 20 yard long blaze before they got it under control.....So i eventually got my car towed back to my place which at least i lucked out and the AAA guy was supposed to charge me about 75 bucks and only charged me 45 on accident... i didn't realize till later i woulda tiped him even more if i did.... Oh well so most likely you'll be seeing my car on the parts for sale forum soon, i don't think i feel like getting it fixed honestly...I think i'm gonna part it out and buy a motorcycle with the money, who knows.... I've got time.... In case i do feel like dropping a new engine in anyone know about how much (not including the engine) a shop would charge me to drop it in? I dropped this one in myself about a year + ago and it was a ***** and i don't feel like doing it again..... BTW i have no clue what actually went wrong or why it went wrong, looks to me like i threw a rod but why i don't know....
