Shaved trunk lid no keyhole, Can't open! NEED HELP!!

Ok this is the problem I have a shaved trunk lid took out the lock, I have a big speaker box in the trunk can't get through the back seat.I must of put that little switch upwards or something. I can't open it from the drivers door switch either. I hear the lock click everytime I press the button but not opening. I don't want to break the lock is there any other way, maybe from the outside with a tool or something.. Any thoughts?? Thanks..

My mom had a similar problem on her 95. From the sounds of it you need to adjust the latch and probably move it up a hair.

Now as for how to get into it... good luck. I think the only option is going in through the back seat, and either somehow getting around the sub box or taking out the whole metal panel and removing the box.

I'm having the same problem only I haven't shaved my keyhole, and my key doesnt fit for some reason. I was told that I will probably have to take off the back seat and go in through the trunk.

wouldnt it work if he used the trunk release on remote? or is that the same as the one on door panel?

It is kinda funny but not that funny because if I get a flat I'm *ucked!! When I do my conversion I'm not going to take out the keyhole.. It looks nice but its a hassle..

I just took some pics and threw these together for you, and others that have asked before...

Do whatever you can to move the sh.it out of the way... This is the ONLY way you can open your trunk.

Here's what inside your trunk should look like...

Here's what yours looks like (hopefully)

Here's how to open the trunk, reach into there and use a stick or somthing, you have to more the lever to the RIGHT I think, if not then left, That should pop the trunk open. (im missing a little spring there but I guess it doesnt need it?)

Do what you ever you have to, this is the ONLY way. (besides a crowbar from the outside)

GOOD LUCK

Edit: My bad Big D, New cardomain pics....
They're smaller but you should still be able to see what to do.

That's why I consider big SUBS in the trunk one of the dumbest things ever. Can you move the box at all? Move it to the side or lift it? If you could you'd just need a long, sturdy something to push the latch up. If not, you're ****ed. TYREXX, IMAGESTATION SUCKS, you should know that by now.

i hope it doesnt boil down to how much you like ur subs and geting the door open and you haveto trash you're box to get the trunk open, that would suck, but u gotta do what you gotta do

T-rex thanks for going all out like that!! I really appreciate it I guess I have to try to move the box a little something its pretty heavy!! Now your really going to laugh I have a board holding all my amps and my capacitors in the back of the trunk!!!! So I guess I have to break the board or try to loosen some screws. Then try to move the box!!! PROJECT!!!!!

i had the same thing happen to me (not a shaved trunk, but my keys didn't match the trunK). take the back seat off and the peice of sheet metal behind it. depending on how your speaker box is mounted, you may or may not be able to unbolt it. you could just destroy the box.

I assumed you already tried pulling on it while pressing the button.... if you must, just destroy your box, sell your subs and get 1 good one.

And MAKE A CARDOMAIN PAGE!

i thkn the valet lock is on. if the trunk is still clicking the valet lock is on. you have to get the lock somehow...and pull up the metal bar inside the trunk latch at the bottom of it. good luck.

Dude i feel sorry for you... im going through the same thing but my situation is a little different. I went to home depot to buy a propane tank and i was in such a hurry. Like a D**K i put the damn thing in the trunk. Right when i got to the house the bottle slammed into the trunk and when i opened the trunk it wouldnt close. So again like a D**K i slammed the trunk and now i cant get it open. My father tried to open it and popped the clip holding the spoiler on the driver side!

how about removing the rear bumper. to have a better acess to the latch. if nothing safe works, try this.
a while back kids were trying to steel my old accord 87, and they were able to open the trunk with a screw driver (that was in my back seat)
I'm sure if you use a metal bar wraped in cloth (to protect pait) and push that trunk up. it will open.
PS be careful not to bent the trunk lip

You might be able to get into your trunk by removing the beack seat completely (top and bottom half). Once that is out, there is a metal plate big enough to fit yourself through and get into the trunk...or your stuff out first). There are like 8 or so bolts holding it in place. We did this on my friends 95 max when he totaled it and couldn't get into the trunk using the pop button or the key. Maybe this will help you out.

I sorry I can't garantee it will work on the maximas, but it worked on the honda, where I didn't care about the paint or if the trunk bent.

fearless action. but yes I did do this on my older car. (again haven't done to the maxima)

hey IZZYS96SE , i did this mod, what i am going to do is setup an emergency cable that will run from where the old keylock attachment is to to the rear seat where the armrest comes down.........
1 thing to keep in mind, if u use the trunk switch from the door or alarm, once u use it u have to keep trunk open for at least 3 seconds because the lock mechanism has to go back in place, so if u open trunk & close it rite away, u wont be able to open it again with the power trunklock switch, i noticed that when i had a keyhole & i had to open trunk with keys..... i left the bar from the keyhole in place so in case of emergency i can just drill a hole in trunk, it prob would only cost me about $100 to fix if i run into that problem, but since i dont have a kicker box rite now, i can alway take backseat out & climb in trunk.......
i cant wait to setup this emergency cable....

He probably pushed the vallet switch, so that you cannot get into the trunk without a key. ha ha ha.
And now, there is no keyhole.

That is why I don't shave my baby.
