Battery & Ebreak Light ON!!! HELP

Hello there.. im n need of you maxima gods!!!

last night while i was driving i heard this annoying noise (wwhheeeezzz) and i press the gas hard to see if it would go away and i did, but i heard something (crack) and my ebrake and battery light came on, my engine light was already on either for KS or Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Now i was driving to work and my car just didnt want to move anymore so stopped right next to this advanced track auto and they took a look and recharged my battery, but the battery & ebrake light it's still on. if you guys know anything about this problem please let me know what i can do... it's a 1996 5sp gxe i think. thank you very much for you time and help .....

- first off all thank you very much for all quick replys
- Will the Ebrake light also go bad b/c of my altenator is bad?
- where can i find a cheap now. i bought this car thinking that i wouldn't have any problems with it and im running really low n money.
- how hard would it be for me to remove the bad one and install the new one myself?
- i know the KS can wait to be replaced, but what about the other sensor is it something important that needs to be changed as soon as possible or what?

Once again thank you very much for your replys

As far as getting a replacement, I would get an OEM remanufactured. Nissan alternators are really pretty good...and ive heard of fewer problems with them than like autozone ones or something.

Also, be sure to check/replace your battery because a bad battery could be a cause of your alternator dying prematurely.

Actually Nissan alternators arn't the greatest. Look at Deezo's expirences. Although I have a AutoZone remanufactured Nissan alternator with a lifetime warrenty, I wish I would have went for a high amp alternator. The Autozone one should be good enough for you. How to should be in the 4th gen HowTo's.

As for your E-brake light, sorry no one has answered for you . Check all you fluid resivors, I had the same problem where my light came on, i just filled them up and it went away.
Good luck !

when the e-brake light goes on, and the battery light comes on also, it is definitally the alternator. if ur car is canadian it has Daytime Running Lamps, and when the e-brake is applied before the car starts the daytime running lamps are turned off so they wont drain the battery. because the alternator is no longer charging your battery. hope this explains why the e-brake light comes on.
