Diagnose Check Engine Light/MIL

I have read the directions to diagnose the engine light. However, I did not find a screw to turn. I ripped off the tape covering the hole to where the screw is supposed to be but did not find anything there to turn. I have a 99, is there another way to check the engine light?

the screw is there, it is white, made of plastic, you'll need a precision flat screwdriver to turn though. I have have a 99 and have checked codes multiple times.

You mean a really small screw driver? I did see something white in there. It is actually at a really bad angle so it was hard to see. If anything, it looked more like an allen key sort of thing. But I will check it out again tomorrow. Thanks!

Yeah a real small screwdriver like the ones used for glasses. You have to put your head right down there, bring a flashlight and be careful. You do not have to turn with much force at all, feel for the stop points, don't turn it too far or your screwed.

btw on my 99 it's a very small PHILLIPS type screwdriver not a FLAT. also you might need to press the gas pedal down a bit to have better acess to turn it.

Yea thats what I found out today. I got the code and it is 0804 (8 long 4 short) which correlates to Transmission Control Unit. Now does anyone know how to fix it?
