Slight hesitation while accelerating

Hello Everyone,

I have a 1996 Maxima GLE & have noticed some hesitation while accelerating from 0 mph. Once I reach around 45mph & accelerate hard from that point on, I don't notice it. It's only when I accelerate hard from a dead stop. I should also say that the hesitation is not profound, only slight.

Thinking that the engine is not getting what it needs, I have cleaned the fuel injectors, replaced the fuel filter, changed the spark plugs (NGK copper), cleaned the throttle body. The only thing left for me to check/replace is the air filter. Any suggestions on which air filter to use? Are the Amsoil air filters any good??

Any other ideas as to why my car hesitates?

Thanks,
S

go ahead and replace your PCV valve, and also check for vacuum leaks, and get a K&N air filter

Thanks cardana24. I will try replacing the PCV valve. What's a good place to buy the valve & the K&N filter? Are they available at Autozone, Pep Boys, etc.?

Thanks,
S

you can get the PCV valve anywhere, dealership/napa/autozone/etc.....as for K&N I have a cone if you want a cone filter its the 2820, it only has about 1000 miles on it, its just to big for my purposes. If you just want the stock panel replacement, you can try talking to cobymoby or just do a google search for your year Maxima and K&N.

you probably need new ignition coils ohm out the ones u have in the front banks, and if they show infinite resistance, then you have a different problem, but if they show resistance, than you need to replace them.

I have the same prob
What does the PCV valve do? I heard about it a few times but don't know anything about it. After how many mileage should I change it? Is it a DIY job? and for how much?
