Shaved my trunk this afternoon...

Check it out:

http://www.keirsmith.com/maxima/index.html

Couple of shots of my new intake too... And before you all start...

1) I know I need to clean my engine bay!
2) The Union Jack ain't going anywhere! It'll only go when I replace it with a bigger one!

So how long does it take for the 'ghost' image of the letters/burger to go away? They do eventually fade, right?

i took the hamburger off. The 'ghost' image as u refer to it; wouldnt disappear even after 2 weeks. I went out and got an eraser.. the big ones. The one I got was a pastel eraser. Rubbed the area down a LOT. washed. rubbed more. clayed it. lotsa polish and elbow grease and top it off with a little wax. Now its gradually going away. I coudl barely see a quarter of the hamburger

you need a claybar, some rubbing compound, polish, and wax. you're gonna have to spend a couple hours on it.

and yes, your engine bay is HORRIBLE

you dont have to spend hours on it. i shaved off the nissan logo 2 days ago and all together it took 30 minutes.
i didnt use a claybar or rubbing compount (although i did buy it just in case).
all i used was Goo Gone, polish, and wax.
ill take a few pictures tomorrow and post em up.
oh and its definitely not going to go away by itself. i recommend you get rid of the left over glue before it dries even more.

I used Turtlewax bug and tar remover and it worked great. I just rubbed it with a rag and I cannot see any ghost image at all.

Why would you put a sticker on the actual paint of your car? I don't understand that.

I guess the shaved trunk looks okay.
With a buffer and some Meguiar's fine cut cleaner, you should be able to get that stuff off.
