I know it sounds dumb, but my trunk never opened with the key.
only by the remote or the front seat botton.
is not, where can I get this key, that I never got when i bought my car.

excellent question, my key doesn't open my trun either an i know my car has never been in an accident.
Mine works but it sticks, so it takes some fiddlin. Its so good to have a keyhole b/c the trunk release is electric and if your battery dies (or is unhooked) it wont open. I wonder if any shaver keyhole owners have screwed themselves by shaving it.
actually on the audio section there was a guy who somehow looked his trunk ad it would open, and he had a sub right where the arm rest sits, and a pice of wood was holding the sub in place.
in other works he was a very unlucky person.
p.s. I don't know how he got away with it. just search for it.
BTW I'm alomost sure my trunk was never replaced, until I did it myself, but in that case I swiched the locks as well, so I still have the original lock.
yeah I will try to go the a locksmith and se if it can get fixed.

someone said that there may be 2 diff keys that came with our maxima, one for everything and one for ignition / door only. valet key or somthing.. im going to try and talk to the dealer and see if there are 2 keys offered for my car. (my key doesn't open the trunk)
Disconnect the thing that goes from the lock to the latch by pushing it towards the lock and it should pop right out of the yellow thing. Then pull out that piece of bent sheet metal (don't know how else to describe it). Just pull on the bent-out part towards the drivers side, it is kind of hard to get this out so just keep at it...it may help to wiggle it back and forth a little. Once that's off the lock should just come right out. Don't know if that made any sense, but feel free to ask for any needed clarification. If that made no sense at all you can get a haynes manual and it will give you instructions.
I never used the key for the trunk for several years, and when I did, it would not turn. I sprayed lock lube into the hole, then the key worked fine. I think the lock cylinder freezes up inside from lack of use...
MY 99 also had the same problem. The "master" key did not open the trunk. everything in my car is electric so I have the remote opener. I bought the car used and the SOB's only had one key for it. I let them know that that the key did not open the trunk. They put a new cylinder in there so now the trunk has a seperate key to get in. I actually like this setup. cause you can lock the remote opener and then you effectively lock the whole trunk up (good for valet)
