Annoying Noise

Help! Annoying Noise Continues..
So yea that sound I was having when I first start up my car in the morning, and after long times sitting is still occuring. As usual I hear the whining sound on and off and only while inside the car for 5 mins after start.. Took a look at the belts my self, and had my shop check it out where they said they find nothing loose and damaged belt wise which I thought the noise was coming from.. At this point I dunno what else it could be because when hearing it the first thing I thought of is belt.. Hope you guys have some ideas for me..
Thanks..
Thanks..

When my alternator was dieing, it would whine. it would go with the rpms.
Can you go into the engine bay and get an idea of where it's coming from? Maybe take a really long screwdriver and poke around to amplify the sound/vibration (hold handle near your ear)

I have spoken to others and they dun think it is the altenator.. Could it really be with the car having 58,000 miles? The car from what i understand does not fall under the recall either so it was not effected by faulty altenators.. My problem is my warrenty is coming up soon and I wanna figure out what the problem is.. The blets have checked out, I dunno what to do.. ;(

Hey man, i own a 1998 maxima, w/ only 39k miles on it - recently purchased and i'm experiencing the same exact problem as all of you. I had called up the local nissan delaership here (nj) and they said that my car was made after teh affected models therefore my alternator would not be replaced. Just as Maximus_95 had stated, if you face the car, the noise comes from the left side of the engine bay, only when teh car is warming up. after that teh car is fine. It sounds like a screetching high pitched noise.
Any help/suggestions appreciated...

I had the same noise, When my car was fully warmed up under about 900-800 rpm's this low pitch whinning noise would show up. At night time with all my lights on it would be ever more obivous. So thats when I replaced alternator and belts. Sound is gone.

SMX95, i had the belts checked they seem fine.. you think i should just change the altenator or test it first... Also remember i am close to the 60k service so if they say my belts are ok should i even change then at 60k..

Make sure they are tight, because that can also be the case, but when it get dark out side turn off the music and just drive around like that listen to your engine carefully. I noticed all these "problems" when My head-unit was broken and DON had it sent out to kenwood. I would notice all these noises since my car is very quite at idle and since there was no music I was sure the problem was the alternator but to be on the safe side I replaced my belts and got everything tightend up. Do another test, let your car warm up turn on all lights listen to the engine and bring the RPM's above 1,200 the noise should leave and the moment it goes back to idle the noise should come back again. Thats what mine did. Im pretty sure its your alternator.

yeah bro you can do that, im not saying you can't. Just to save you money if its really that obivous just listen into it. At times the best way to pin point a problem is to listen into it. And with the alt. Test yes it will give you a 100% answer on if its the problem or not.

smx95, i can get it done free i am pretty sure anyways and is quick.. also if it is the altenator i still have the warrenty for the car for a little less then a month so i can get it done free as long as i get this checked out now.. ya no?

Smx95, could the belts just need dressing? should i buy some and spray it? i thought at first maybe it was because they are dry when they sit?
Also forgot to add i called the dealer to find if my car was under the recall and ran this problem by him a week ago he said it could be a belt tensioner (is there one) that expands the belt when the car is running.. he said when the car sits it gets smaller and as it gets bigger agai it might make the noise..
