Can't get fuel filter off
Can't get fuel filter off
Removed the fuse, loosened the hose clamps, but I couldn't get the hose to pull off. So I turned the motor over again (to try to remove fuel pressure), but still can't get the hoses to budge.
Anyone else have this problem? I'm afraid I'll break something if I keep pulling on it.

Try opening your gas cap...this helps to depressurize.
Are you using some sort of pliers to help get the hoses off? Try using a twisting/pulling motion when using pliers, this has helped me.

Use pliers to crimp crush the barbed ends of each side of the filter to make them small enough to slip the hose off, besides you're not planning on keeping that old filter in mint condition are you?
This was a pain for me too...one thing that really helps to get your hands really in there is to remove the intake manafold just like when you clean the trottle intake. After you remove it you will have a lot more space to work with...you gotta crush the filter ends inside the hose or just twist with your hands it comes off eventually. Just dont damage the hose.
GLuck!

You should buy some replacement hoses just to be on the safe side.. but usually i just keep turning the fuel filter until it comes loose.
I am hoping you took the AIR box off so you can get better leverage

i did it last saturday. loosened the clamps, so they slide freely, then sprayed with the stuff that makes the bolts loosen-up easier (forgot what its called!). then used a flat-head screwdriver, and stuck it between the filter body and the hose, and pulled. came out relatively easy. twisting a dry rubber hose off the filter is a pain.and gotta be careful with that "tree" of metal piping under the intake, cause if you break them off, apparently it will cost a pretty penny to fix.
hope this helps.
