help werid sound from engine!
Hi!
This past weekend I installed a front strut bar on my car, did everything correctly with the right torque and everything went nice and smooth. After I was done I went for a test drive and that's when I first noticed it, not sure if it was there before, but mostly likely it was since FSB doesn't change engine noise.
It coming from the back of the engine near the firewall, I can hear it the most when I accelerate. It hard to describe the noise but it sounds like a low level gargling noise I seem to hear it the clearest when I am in the car with the windows up and revving the rpm but I also hear it when I have the hood open and rev the car while standing close to the rear of the engine.
Any idea's on what it could be? if its normal and what to check more?
I have 125,000 miles on the car and its running in pretty good condition. No vibrations in idle or on highway and idles at a perfect 700 rpm.

werid though, why would it make a gargling type of noise that seems like its coming from the exhuast manafold or something. One thing i do know its touching at is the AC tube that runs on the left side the engine block right by the power steering pump. The pipe touches the strut bar at that point just a little but i wrapped some tape around it to make sure it doesnt nick the pipe. Its pretty secure but not sure.

hey guys! i looked and listened more carefully when i got home today and here is a pic of exactly where the sound is coming from. It looks like its either coming from this silver unit or something right under it. Does anyone know what this is and if there is any known issues with it?
Bascially the noise is a low but deep gargling type of noise heard when applying gas. any help would be appriciate!
thanks!

I had kind of the same noise in my 97' I30, it was coming from the belts, but it was hard to isolate the noise. It was the alternator's bearings that where making that metallic grinding noise.
I hope this helps.

thanks lui! but i am positive its not the belt pully bearing. I had that replaced already and I know the sound, that sound is a lot more high pitch and annoying.
Acutally this sound is like there is a ball loose inside the area i circled in the pic above and its rattleing around. closet i can come to discribing it is the kinda of sound u hear when u gargle slowly.
