Car won't start...dealer says it's because the key's need to be re-programmed. Help

A friend of mine has a 99 Maxima SE auto. The other day she went to start her car and it would not start. She took it to the dealer, and they said all of her keys need to be re-programmed, and it would cost $130. Does this sound right? Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, how does the car or key's lose the programming? I don't have a ton of details on the car, I know it's pretty well taken car of and has about 100K on it. She drives the car very easily and I was in it the night before and everything sound perfect with the car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

It happened to me at about 115K. What's worse is the dealer having absolutely no logical answer as to why it happened.

$110 lighter, I was back on the road.

It's the anti-theft vehicle immobilizer system that kicked in...I just went through this recently (there's a thread on it about a week ago). The dealer charged me 57 bucks for 2 keys but really all they do is re-program the computer...

Common problem with the 99's. Nissan has even issued a TSB on this. 125-150 avg. price

I'm wondering if anyone has had to have it reset more than once?
