Is this a real HID setup complete with ballasts, ignotors and capsuls, or high wattage, blue coated halogens?.. I don't mean to offend you but a lot of people don't really know the difference.

take a pic of the light that is comming out and i will tell you. Look at your headlight take it out.....does it have wires hanging off of it, or is it just a base?

well i believe it is a real HID, ppl who see them ask where i get my HID's from, but, it kinda warms up for a second then comes on, thats an indicator i guess, isnt it? id send a pic when i get home, but assuming it is a real complete HID kit, what process do i have to go through with a dimming light? is it a simple bulb replacement? i need to know how involved this is gonna be, thanks guys

yea if your headlight warms up from an aqua blue color to whatever kelvin kit you have, then that's definitely HID. The only question is what kind of kelvin (color) kit do you have. If it stabilizes to an aqua blue color still, then that's probably 8000k. If it's very purple/pink, most likely its 6000k. If it's pure bright white, then its probably between 4300k to 5300k.

Most kits out there are usually the one's with the plug and play wires. So I'm assuming your aftermarket kit uses these type of bulbs with the 2 wires hanging out...

Anyway, good luck, hope this helps.

I have 4100K D2R and everyone thinks I got like a 6000K. When I first put then on, its BLUE, then turns to Pure White with slight blue.

To me BLUE HIDs do not reflect much signs and on a black asphalf. Purple and White reflect much better on the road, so I guess thats why many people think my HIDs are so bright.

The difference between D2S and D2R is that D2S bulbs are for "projector" style headlights where as the D2R bulbs are for "reflector/freeform" headlights. You most likely don't have to worry about this, because almost all aftermarket kits re-base the bulbs to fit let's say, a 9004 styled bulb. The D2S/D2R bulbs are found in most of the OEM cars like the BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, you name it, even the 2k2+ Maximas...

this is what a D2S/D2R bulb looks like, and i really doubt u need these unless you happened to get a D2R bulb rebased to 9004 (which is VERY RARE!) Usually its the 9006 style bulbs that usually have this conversion...

Also, I found a website where you can buy the bulbs that you need.. take a look at these two links...

How bright can you have a HID kit before it gets noticed by the police?

4100k is the brightest. and you can't get "noticed" by the police because HIDs aren't illegal to use. I have a 4100k kit w/ no beam cut off and i drive behind cops and they can't do a thing.

i hate to be the first one at a light and cops turn right in front of ur HIDs and u light up there entire car, I wish sometimes there could be a dimmer for ur HIDs, dim when cops pass, then go back to full brightness.

Can anybody help me out? When I put my headlights (HIDs) on, when I go to flash somebody on the road, one of them goes out and in order for me to get it back on I need to wait like 6-10 seconds, then turn the headlights back on. I don't understand why it does this. So now I try not to flash nobody, even tho it's not really a "Flash" being that I don't have High Beams anymore, but still an aknowledgment.

PS: Also, what bulbs are used for City Lights? I wanna get nice, bright white ones or blue because mine are very yellowish as of right now. Thanks.
