Exhaust questions
My B-pipe is completely broken off were it goes into the muffler. I think it happened when I put in my shifter and had the exhaust hanging there. So obviously I'm going to have to replace that and will probably do the muffler at the same time. I've got some questions.
Some things to keep in mind: I have a wsp y-pipe, and I want QUIET...so no aftermarket cat backs. I don't mean it has to be as quiet as stock, when the y-pipe was installed it was noticeably louder because a bunch of the sound insulation has come out my exhaust in the past year and I didn't mind that, but I don't want it to sound like I don't have a muffler as is the case now.
I figure since I have to replace it anyway I may as well get rid of the crush in the B-bipe, so I'll probably get an exhaust place to make one for me, but should I get a specific type/brand of resonator for them to use or just whatever they want to use?
Is the 5th gen muffler 2.5"? What does the whole variable capacity thing do? Where would a good source of these be? Is there any difference between 2k-2k1 and 2k2-2k3? If it's not 2.5" is there any other quiet muffler that is? Should I even worry about the extra .25"? Another thought I had was using a 5th gen muffler (with dual tips) and having it put in further back and having pipes put attached to the tips for a fake dual exhaust. Would this work and would I be able to fit the muffler and a resonator back far enough to do this?
Finally, the cat looks to be in pretty bad shape, just rusty though so if I can't replace it cheaply I won't. Given that I live in MA and emissions tests here are a b!tch I don't think a hi-flow would be a good idea. Is there any source other than the dealer for good quality cats? Anybody in a state without emissions have one in good condition they want to sell to me?
Anybody in western mass know of any good exhaust shops?
*Edit* Also, what would be a good tool to use to cut the bumper whether I go 5th gen muffler or fake dual? had another thought, is there any good stuff in the 6th gen exhaust? Aren't they fake dual stock?
Thanks everybody!!!

That's not actually quiet though is it?
I really just want info on what to ask for in a custom made b-pipe and if the stock 5th gen muffler is 2.5".
Also happyricefob, I just read in a similar thread that you said the "magnaflow SS is fairly quiet." What does that mean...how quiet is fairly quiet?
