4th gen MPG
My 96 is an automatic with 159,000 miles. It runs like it did when it was brand new. Depending on my driving, I've squeezed about 350 miles from a full tank but I was driving like a friggin old lady for a week. When I'm really in the pedal Its gone as low as 180 miles per tank but I average about 250-280 per tank. I'm about due for a tune up so hopefully these numbers will improve soon.

Check the sig..... It's a stick w/all new o2's, Y, intake, all tuned up, and I rarely ever shift under 2,500. My driving isn't really city or highway, it's a little of both and alot of in between.
27-30 MPG highway, cruising at 75 or so.
Around 17-18 MPG city, which basically means me going WOT for minutes at a time, racing around like an idiot, idling for extended periods outside of my school, etc.
'95 4AT.
EDIT: The one time I don't check the freakin dates on a thread...

on weekdays what i only drive to work i get over 330 miles on a full tank doing between 80 & 90 mph on the the freeway to work and back......
97 auto SE. Used to get about 22 with a mix of hwy/city and one of the front 02 sensors not working. Now I just changed out my 02 sensors and knock sensor. Unfortunately the improved response means I gun it more often and I'm down to 20 at best.
Last fill up was 340 miles to 16.22 gallons on 87 Octane, mostly highway, with slightly spirited driving... That was with occasional O2 CELs, Bad Knock Sensor, and crap spark plugs (I'd never changed them since I bought it, which was at 92k miles, and its got 140k on it now). That equates to about ~21mpg. But I wasn't really being easy on the car... I was really romping it the last 100 miles or so...
That being said... I just cleaned my O2 sensors with Mineral Spirits, replaced the spark plugs, and filled up this time with 93 Octane... drives great so far... it threw a couple addition CELs after I cleaned the O2s while I was still on 87 Octane, but its been great ever since (I did this on Saturday, and flogged the crap out of the car Saturday and Sunday, and filled up yesterday afternoon). I'll report back next time I fill up, which will probably be in about a week and a half.
Oh, and I forgot that I changed the fuel filter too... had a Z32 fuel filter laying around from before I sold my TT and stuck that on in the factory filters place (it was probably original to be honest). Thing is about twice the size of stock and thus twice the capacity... =) Fits on the firewall too!

I have a 1997 GXE with 192,600 Automatic. city 18 to 21 Hwy 26 to 32 Try keeping it just under 70mph with 29psi in all tires... got 34 b/f when I had 34psi (got a tire leak from doing that). Turning off igition at long (5 minute lights) and when using ATM/drive thru. Avoid Jack rabit starts. Got 32 using 89 octane.

for those getting crappy mpg, your oil's viscosity will have an impact. if you are using 10W30 and driving mostly in the city, your oil will never get up to operating temperature and will be way too thick. this will cost you 3 to 5 mpg. if you are using a thicker 30wt (like castrol 0W30) or a 40wt it will have the same effect. when I switched to castrol 0W30 I lost 4 mpg on average.
--> before 900 people reply telling me that 0W30 is thinner or too thin, etc. let me tell you that is a misconception. Castrol 0W30 is one of the thickest 30wt oils on the market at all temperatures above about -20F. seems odd I know, but it is true. this is why it does not have the energy conserving mark on the API donut.

That calculates to approx. 18 miles per GALLON. kinda low if you ask me.
Also, i'm driving conservatively...

Did you change the knock sensor also? what about a tune up and your tire pressure? that really helps
