Now that I've received my Budget B pipe I'm thinking about the muffler now. What would be better at noise suppression: an Apexi N1-type with the silencer or the stock muffler?

Get a 5th gen muffler over that N1.. I just don't think those N1 mufflers look that great on our car. They really belong on like WRX, or other more sporty and smaller 4 doors. If you want quiet get the 5th gen muffler and be happy.

.................

dont just go with what the forums tell you to do, if you are looking to free up horsepower i would recomend opening as much of the exhaust as you can, you definatly dont want a stock muffler even if its a 5th gen. if you do either of those what the hell was the point of freeing up HP prior to the point of getting to the muffler.

if its not hp your looking for then dont bother even putting on the b pipe, just put a fancy looking muffler oon or a 5th gen and call it a day.

but if ur gonna go with the gaybody stock mufflers your only hurting your hp in the long run no sence in even having an exhaust IMHO

I was thinking of that because I can pop in the silencer when the wife is on board and take it out for the rest of the time when she's not. I'd have the best of both worlds. If I was a young and single guy I wouldn't be asking this question. I would have gone with a Magnaflow.

Now with a 5th gen muffler would the twin tubes clear the opening when I have the Stillen bodykit?

the stock muffler will definatly be the quieter muffler of the two.

I let mighteatyou's comments slide as he's still 21 and most likely single while I'm 46, married and have a wife to answer to!

You and me, both. I just give my wife the new car and keep the 95 for myself, so for the most part I can do what I want to it. But I still get a lot of flack if the wife has to ride in my car instead of her nice, quiet and soft riding car, so loud exhausts are out. I'm right at the noise limit with the Apexi WS.

The stock muffler will definitely be quieter.

Several dynos have shown tht the OEM muffler only costs you about 2hp when used with an aftermarket catback.

I really dont think those two horsies are worth all the racket from an open muffler.

Haha! Same scenario for me Stephen!

As Jeff at Budget has advised me, it looks like the stock muffler is the way to go for me. Peace of mind and a mind in one piece!
Thanks guys!
