Just get it good and tight without twisting the head off the bolt. The amount of torque isn't that critical in this case.

hi i have the torque specs, they are: (4 - 7 N*M which is 0.4-0.7 KG*m which is 35 - 61 ft*lb) , but a better way to check to to see is by the deflection of the belt, since this amount of torque that is recommended by nissan is rarely enough to keep the belt tight, in my experience anyway

If you can get a torque wrench on the idler pully center nut, you will certainly impress me.

Uhhh....not the nut that holds the pulley itself on, the nut that adjusts the tension of the accessory belt

and FYI, if I wanted to tighten the nut you were referring to, to a certain spec, I'd put the entire assembly on my vice and do so........impressed yet?

I hope you loosened the idler pulley nut first before you play with the tensioner bolt. That nut acts as a lock so adjusting the tensioner won't loosen or tighten the belt until you do that first.

After loosening the idler pulley nut you can adjust the belt tightness by adjusting the tensioner nut from the top. I use a long extension bar to reach it. Once you have the belt to the right specs you lock down the idler pulley nut by tightening it.

No, not yet. See BlackCat's response.

Sorry, you didn't say which nut or bolt. I thought you were talking about the nut holding the pulley on. My mistake.
