Stereo Problem

I recently put a stereo in my 95 maxima. When I turn on the subs my radio sounds bad unless I use a cd then it sounds fine. It sounds all distorted until I shut off the subs then it sounds fine or use a cd. What do you think it is?

Some grounding issue from the subs... causing interference with the antenna.

Make sure your hu and amps have good grounds. Make sure they're connected to the chassis, use sandpaper to clean the surface.

is the amp for the subs hooked into the RCAs on the radio? ...or line level off of the rear speakers? Sounds kind of strange that it's only the radio and not the CD. Do your audio settings change when you change from radio to CD? some radios have separate audio controls for radio and CD. I don't know how far from RI you are, but I'd be willing to meet up w/ you, worst case.

I am not far from there. The radio setting are the same as cd. I think it has something to do with the antenna but I am not sure.
