Problem Reading Oil Dipstick...
I checked the oil level last night after the car had been sitting for 6-7 hours maybe a little less the oil read 2 millimeters BELOW the H mark, I was like ok it's fine. Check it again in the morning same deal. Drive for 2 miles total 20-30 minutes tops come home park my car. Head off to class check the dipstick again this time after the car had been sitting for 3 hours the level read 5-6 MM below the H mark I was like WTF??? Seemed like it lost .25-.35 quarts. Now I assure you all that I am not leaking oil anywhere I park in a garage no leaks what so ever. I am not burning oil at all no smells or smoke, and my compression is good. Now a friend of mine told me it's probably the dipstick so I would appreciate it if someone can give me information on how to read the dipstick and or why the readings are like that. Thanks!
Just keep checking the car after it's been sitting for 6-7 hours and go with that dipstick reading. Even though you let the car sit for 2 hrs, thats not long enough to get a good reading after driving for short trips. 1/4 quart of oil is still stuck up in the engine and hasn't made it down to the oilpan. My feeling is your car is just fine!!

You are supposed to check it when cold. Reputable mechanics and people here will till you to check it in mornings or what not. The oil doesn't settle in 10 minutes or so I think correct me if I'm wrong.

Yea man thats execally my point... if u check it after 10 minutes enough oil should go to the pan to have a good reading. its kinda hard to explain. its like this... u want to measure the oil that is activly circulating, u dont really want to measure the oil when every last drop from all over the engine has settled int he pan. sorry for the weird explination.
