FSTB Issue

Went to put my FSTB on today, and on the driver's side tower there's a welded piece of metal keeping the bar from sitting on the strut properly. I was thinkin just hack it off. Anyone else have this issue?

99's have some unknown metal braket. the best solution is to use a (cold?) chisel and hammer to bust it off cleanly.

They cost like $25. Even if it doesn't do a thing (even though I think it does), it's still worth it even just to find out for yourself. Point is they're dirt cheap.

So true and it does reduce torque steer =)

I agree. Also a slight difference in really sharp turns. The loss of torque steer is the the main benefit though.

What about the rear strut bar? I hear its worthless. I want to get the rear sway bar for sure though.

I wouldn't buy one of the expensive ones. You can get one for about $40 on ebay though using parts for some other nissan...I'll try to find the specifics.

Here we go: get a FSTB and RSTB for a 1995-1999 200sx/sentra. You then use the bar from the FSTB and the brackets from the RSTB and you have your very own maxima RSTB. I did not come up with this, but I can't remember who did to give them credit.

i had the same problem. i used a hacksaw to cut it off. it worked pretty well since that metal piece was useless, and after that the strut bar fit perfect. it handles much better now too.

I started it with a hacksaw, broke the blade, so just pryed it off with a flatbar. its only held on by a couple of spot welds, so it came off easy.
