How to for installing Homelink?

Does anyone have a "how to" for installing Homelink in a 98 GXE? The link in the FAQs is no good. I am considering picking up a homelink visor, but I want to make sure I can do the setup. Thanks.

Assuming you have the vanity lights in your existing visor (i.e. so you have power to the visor).

1. unscrew and unplug old visor
2. plug-in and screw down new visor.

Done.

Is there anything else needed other than the visor with the buttons? Do you need any other wiring or hardware? Is there instructions floating around anywhere for programming the buttons?

Here ya go:

1. To clear the system & make it receptive to programming, hold the outer
buttons in simultaneously until the blinking pattern in the light changes (I
don't remember if it starts out blinking slowly, then changes to faster, or
solid, or whatever - just wait until whatever it starts with changes to
something else). This takes a while, 30 seconds to a minute. All three
buttons are cleared and ready to be programmed now.

2. Take your garage door remote transmitter, point it directly at the
homelink buttons and hold down its button and the button on the homelink you
want to program until the blinking light changes (again about 30 seconds).

3. Repeat step two to program each of the other buttons. Don't repeat step
one, as it clears them all out again.

Thats for the 97s - I think it should work for you too... there are different types of homelink visors - some that support the rolling code garage door openers and some that don't... The 98-99 support the rolling codes for sure, not sure about the earlier ones.
