Headlights Blinking .... Not staying started ??????????

Ok, here are a couple MORE problems ...

1.) When driving with my headlights on, everytime I touch my brakes, the lights dim. Why???

2.) Still having the problem that when I go to start my car unless I give it gas for a few seconds, it goes dead immediately. After I give it gas for a few seconds, however, it stays and runs just fine.

3.) O2 and Knock Sensor are fixed, reset the ECU ... that damn CEL light is still on ... but no codes are coming up. WTF?!?

I've been by my car.

Low battery (voltage) will cause funky problems elsewhere... Check voltage at idle and 3K and/or load test the battery for starters (don't assume the alternator is working).

A bad battery will strain even a new alternator and vice-versa.

Assuming that the dimming headlight has nothing to do with the way your car starts, here's what I think.

1) Headlights dimming: 1) dirty battery terminals, 2) since you didn't mention about checking the battery, have it checked - maybe it needs water, 3) have the voltage regulator checked, better yet have the entire charging system checked.

2) Hard starting: 1) clean the throttle body, 2) clean the IACV (idle air control valve), 3) clean the MAF (mass airflow) sensor

All instructions can be found in the stickies. Hope this helps.

Your awesome. Thank you

Had my battery checked ... I new battery cables.

I will do all the other stuff for my starting (I didn't think the lights had anything to do with the starting ... it just happened to be going on at the same time hehe) and see if that helps. THank you!!

A bad connection or battery thats on its way out will cause lights to dim... but remember its also kind of normal just not to an extreme. LIke when you roll your windows up or down you'll the interior lights dim a bit from the load... You can get it checked or just clean the terminals and make sure theres a good connection.

As for the car turning off, I'd clean the throttle body and IACV like 2damax said...

Although its pretty weird that your throwing the CEL light yet not having a code..
