HID/Alarm potential problem.

Yo I got a 98 I30 and I installed a HID kit some time ago. I know I should post this in the I30/I35 forum but this can apply to Maxima also. It wasn't till the other day that the thought hit me that if my alarm goes off, then my headlights would start flashing constantly until my alarm goes off. That is really not good for my bulb nor ballast. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have a solution?

Yes that is a problem but it would only occur with the factory alarm when someone actually opens the car door unless you have your aftermarket alarm hooked up to the headlights too.

as explained above.. a respectable electrician will be able to rewire the system so ur blinkers flash.. or parklights.. not the head.. or hell wire u p the fog to flash.. heh.. just a thought..

That is how my dads 2002 is. It also goes off when you hit the panic button. When the thief hears the alarm, he definitely won't stop once he sees he's going to get HID's too. It’s probably some find of relay. I think there’s a couple of relays for the alarm. I would take 1 out at a time and then try it to see if your headlights still flash.

i bet you have a mccuallah kit or however you spell it. The problem is that your hid kit is hooked up t your high beams. When our cars alarm goes off it flashs the high beams, so swicth the wire between your high beems and your lo-beams and your problem should be fixed.

BTW i do not think it is to good for the bulb and ballast either...

like he said the output for our alarms only goes to the high beam light. so if you hook it up to the low beam you wont have any problems. i had hid for over 3 yrs no alarm issues.
