Buzzing noise from tranny area.
Alright, I need someone with an Auto tranny to check something for me. Turn the key so all the dash lights are on. Then pop the hood and move the throttle open and see if your car makes a noise. Mine does and I don't know what it is.

Mine makes a fast buzzing/clicking noise when I have the key turned so all the dash lgihts are on, but the motor isn't running. Sounds like it's comming from the under the motor. This usually happens when I have the radio on for a couple minutes without the motor running.

I am installing something in my car, and when that is plugged it, it always makes the buzzing noise. So I tried to duplicate the noise and it does it when I open the thottle when key is in the ACC position(even when the thing I am installing is not in).
You got my curiosty up so I just went out to try this on my car.Popped open the hood, turn on the switch, then open the throttle and i'll be dam*ed if mine didn't make a buzzing noise also from somewhere near the tranny. It only does it when the throttle is opened up. Don't know what it is though because it is in the teens outside and I didn't want to freeze my butt off trying to figure it out.I will be checking into this myself though when I can get some space in the garage just to know what it is.
I had noticed the same thing last summer, after driving around and tranny was hot I would hear the buzzing noise whenever I was not in drive, would hear that sound in P and N only. Couldn't figure it out, have not noticed again in a year!Make sure your trans fluid is at the proper level.
I am sorry for raising the dead on this but has any of you found out what the noise is? I've had it too for a couple of years but it doesn't seem to have any effect on my battery voltage, well I really can't say for sure if it has or not. Just wondering if there was an answer so I can rule out fixing it or worry about it. Please let me know
Funny that I read this thread a few days ago and I heard the same noise today. I had my car up on stands to check oil leak and i heard the buzzing noise. I went under to trace the noise and it was coming from inside the tranny oil pan which may indicate the solenoids. When I turned it off and turn back to on without starting the noise wasn't there.
This the strangest thing... Even more strange is no one has provided an answer for it yet. Tons of questions about it but no answers! Mine sounds like it's the starter. My starter is fine plus I have a ground wire attached to it. It made the sound even before I added the extra ground. What solenoid are you referring to? Mine comes on every time I turn the key and stays on til I turn the key off. It's definitely not the fuel pump or IAVC. I hope somebody can shed some light on this..

There are shift solenoids inside the tranny located near the oil pan. I think there are 5 in all. Yes, the noise occurs when the key is left in ON position without starting. Doesn't seem to be a major issue if you ask me.
