More Power with mid grade Fuel

This weekend I went out to PA and needed gas so I filled my tank at a Mobile station. I normally run only premium gas in my car but as I was filling up I realized I grabbed the wrong nozzle and put mid grade in. I was surprised to find my car had more power and I'm getting better gas milage than I've ever got with the car. I don't know if it's the lower octane or maybe the gas in PA is different than NJ. I'm going to try filling up next time with mid grade and see. The other thought I had was maybe NJ is still putting that additive in the gas to reduce emisions. I thought they stopped doing that years ago and that the pumps had to have stickers on them saying so. Anybody else had a similar experience?

Maybe a heavier foot?

JoeB- If you use lower than 91 octane, you may get some engine knock and thus have less power... Maybe you should try a different gas station in NJ.

I don't know why you "felt" more power.. the butt dyno 3000 is not always correct

It may be another factor, but I dont think degrading your octane level would have increased car performance.

Then again, PA's gas stations has the good ****
