Warpspeed Super Flow Y
OMG that is the most retardedly designed y-pipe i've ever seen in my life. Did they really eliminate the flex section altogether? I'm not even going to waste my breath on this one, i'll leave it to the imagination of what not having a flex can do for your car!
ive seen ball and socket joints used on headers, even had one on my last car, and it had far less problems than the flat gasket surface like on our y's. also did a custom setup with a 10inch flex from my supplier with the now defunct Fast Fabrications header (One of the four headers I used) and actually had that leak within the time frame that that one was on the car.
I could see if they used a step to increase exhaust velocity (ie merge collector design) going into the rear then trumpeting the second and going back to a smaller section into the cat or added a cat farther downline...

either way the ball and sockets are frequently used in header designs and pretty reliable. I dont know if i like the look of the rest of the pipe after seeing it better, but it doesnt look as bad as my EBAY SPECIAL FROM SS AUTOCHROME (with headers) that didnt fit... :bleh:

Maybe he doesn't know what a ball and socket joint looks like, thus his comment. Still it isn't hard to see that there are still flex movement with that type of joint. I just don't like the way the diameter got smaller right before the joint.

I compared the flex on the stock and the superflo. The superflo, it will only flex around the balljoint area where the stock will flex as far as the flex area. Superflo design, does not flex as much as the previous model. The balljoint will eventually scrapes from the movement, it will not last longer according to the design. With this consideration, i'm taking it back to warpspeed.
I totally agree with you. I'm still debating too. I can see how much the stock flex section can flex (in different sections along the flex section) which I don't think the superflo will be able to do so. I'm a newbie, so I have a lot of catching up in reading and many things. My opinion is solely by just looking at the design and actually try twisting the flex joint, which I have the superflo y pipe in my possession. I'm pretty sure the company did their research along with their experience to come up with superflo design, but I'm just curious.
I was going to install it 2 days ago, but suddenly I just put it on hold, so I can see how superflo flex section actually work. Sounds dumb, but it gives me satisfaction if I actually know how superflo flex actually works in daily or hard driving. The only thing I noticed so far is the difference in length of the flex section between stocks vs. after market y pipes. The after-market flex section is always shorter than the stock.
I feel tempted to put the y pipe on, because I read lots of good story having it on your car.

My super-flo has been on for a month and a half now. It's coupled with my GReddy SP2. Sounds MEEAAAN. In first gear is sounds sweet, second gear it gets raspy. And that raspiness stays there for 3rd and 4th gear.
