farting noise from engine

my car sounds like a ricer, but i have a stock exhaust. it makes a farting noise at idle and at low rpms but when it reaches above 3 it isn't as bad. i think it's a head gasket because the noise seems to be coming from the front but i'm not sure. Possibly a leak somewhere? if anyone has any info to help me out it'd be much appreciated! thanx

IF its coming from the front of the engine it may be the front manifold... you have to listen and see where its coming from.

gaskets are usually very inexpensive $5 or $15 at the most, but its the installation, if you can do it yourself then it will be an easy and in expensive task, assuming where ever the leak is from, those bolts are stubborn to come off.

to swap a gasket you would have to pull the manifold away from the head remove the old and insert the new. a gasket set is usually an easy repair but not one ive done on this car, it usually rates about a 5-6 out of 10 difficulty when its a front , just depends on what all runs through your intake mani (Sorry im a mopar guy, new to this stuff)

and it isnt your head gasket also have them check to see if you have a cracked mani, thats a possibility .

check the flex section and the connections between exhaust manifold and y-pipe, y and b pipe, and b & muffler. probably one of those just gave up.
