Dealer, Napa, pepbays...they are all within 25 cents of each other, just go the the closer place. BKR5E-11 is the PN for the coppers....or it might be BRK5E-11. I can never remeber which one, but only one is a real PN so it does not matter.

Is there any dif between the coppers and platinums as far as performance? I know that platinums will last longer but it is a big price differnece between the coppers and platinums, so if the coppers are fine I would go with them. Changing the plugs is easy and takes less than 20 min.

No you didn't it's all in your head. Because if you use anything other than NGK you car will not perform at it's best.

There is a thread that explains it all.

I believe the coppers give a little better spark than the platinums. The platinums cost $60-$70 for six the coppers cost $12-$18. The platinums last 60k, coppers last 30k. So even if you go with the coppers you change them twice in the time of a plat. but you will still save anywhere from $24-$36.

If you're really looking to get the most out of your car, NGK has other spark plugs. I believe there is the:

Standard - Copper
V-power - Copper <--- this is what you WANT from the dealer
Platinum - Platinum <--- this is what the dealership will recommended you
G-power - Platinum
Iridium - Iridium
Iridium Extreme - Iridium

I don't know where to get the other kinds of plugs. I imagine you would look for a NGK dealer.

I just bought a set of copper NGK's for rmy 98 GXE from Autozone and the total was about $14.

BTW, gap for coppers is 0.044. No gap for platinums, plug and play.

I just bought NGK plats off of sparkplugs.com for a total of 17 bucks, shipped to the front door. I have a 97 and just turned 60k miles today, so tomorrow I will finish up all of my 60k maintenance with some new plugs. As far as I know, also, the NGK plats don't need to be gapped either.

Should get better throttle response from the coppers and fuel economy will be the same on both types of plugs. I had the platinums in for 30k and then switched to BKR5E-11's. Copper V-plugs or Stock # 6953 at pep boys for $1.79 ea. I'll switch them every 30k and drive hard!!

BS. The 11 at the end of the number is what the plug is pre-gapped to. Both coppers and plats have it. Either one you get make sure to gap them yourself, unless you're the biggest idiot there is of course, if that's the case just put them in straight from the box without gapping. If you have half a brain though, check the gap of every plug you ever put in any car. BTW, the gap is .039"-.044".

Actually when I went to the Dealership after reading this thread they recommended Iridiums because I have over 150k miles on my I30... I think he was just trying to scam me... cuz they cost $6.78 each. Then I mentioned the V-Power Copper and he said that it would give me poor gas milage... I dont like this dealership that's twice I was lied to >< (1st one was over the I30 not being able to have a rear sway bar)

I finally found the information on the part number of the plugs and Dave Sz was right the number 11 is what the plug is pre-gapped to which is 1.1mm or in inches terms .044" which is why the nissan dealership orders them with the 11 gap size. Just letting you know if you order them you DON'T need to gap the plugs unless there has been damage done but you can always double check them. This is for NGK plugs:

They were scamming you. Iridiums are pointless on N/A cars, they are a waste of $$$. From what I read iridiums works well on boosted cars.

The actual part # its stocked in is NGK 6953

They are V power plugs, I just asked for 6 plugs for a 97 Altima... they use those plugs.

Platinum plugs are coated with a sheet of platinum to help them last longer, thats about it.

NGK platinums are going for $28.00 plus $5.00 shipping on eBay. Part number is PFR5G-11. Go with the Platinums and forget for 60,000 miles
