Proud owner of a BLOODY STUMP!changed ks...

So i did it - took about 45 minutes and a little blood. But I changed my knock sensor. All I did when I finished was reset the ECU, and ride up and down my street 3 or 4 times. I seem to have more low end torque.

BUT...why isnt my ghost code disappearing? I reset the ecu (clockwise,2sec,counter,2 sec,clockwise,2sec,counter), but its still on. Do I need to drive a while?

Thanks 4 ur input....

Sometimes it is the knock sensor harness that needs replacing.

if its the harness...wouldnt I NOT notice the difference? does it take some time to go away or what? even when i reset the ECU, then power off the car, power on the car (power, not start it)and check again, , the code remained!?!? this is after driving a mile or so with the new sensor

maybe im not resetting it right? i read the info on resetting, seems pretty simple...i explained how i did it in my first post...

Are you getting only 0304 and another code with it?

Butt dynos can be deceiving, although when I changed my KS there definitely was a noticeable increase in power.

When you reset the ecu, did you follow the procedure at the bottom of this page:http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html

Keep driving.... "up and down the street 3 or 4 times" - does that mean you put 30 miles on it or 3? I believe it can take a while for the ECU to return from safe mode...

after i replaced mine i'm pretty sure after i reset the ecu it didnt come back on. i read that it takes a little while for the engine to recognize that theres a new ks because it increases the timing very very little until it gets knock, eventually it advances it as far as it can go.

perhaps you overtightened it or didn't tighten it enough?...

mine disappeared right away and hasn't come back even if i have other codes. i didn't feel an increase in power but the code went away and my gas mileage improved slightly(just a little).
