HELP: noise when turning the wheel (slightly)

Hello,

I have got a problem recently. Couple of days ago I have noticed a grinding sound when turning the wheel slightly (for about 0-20 degrees). It does not matter does the car actually move or not, I heat it. There is no any noise when I make a real turn, it happens only when I turn the streering wheel slightly. The sound it not persistent, i.e. if I keep the wheel at the same angle and move i do not hear it. So it does not sound like a ball joint, I think...May be a tire rod end? But it does not matter do I turn left or right, I hear the same sound...

I will appreciate any advices or suggestions how to better diagnose this problem.
