I did the alarm mod on my car a few month ago. I'm really happy with it. The install was easy....don't follow the instructions on the writeup though...the relay is useless. Just splice into the positive and negative wires in the trunk (I forgot wich ones they were, but they were pointed out in the writeup). Also, try to get the buzzer to sit outside the trunk (under the bumper) so you could hear it better. I ran the wire through a hole behind the bumper that lead into the trunk.
I did a complete write-up for this because the other write-up mentioned some unnecessary things (as mentioned by maxtuner96).
The mod is great, cheap, and a bonus for people who don't like to sit and watch their lights flash. In my write-up, I included instructions for installing not only a rear but also a front buzzer. Sorry I don't have a .wav file, but don't worry about what it sounds like. Get the buzzer you like (test it while at the store if possible) and make sure it has plenty of volume so you don't have to be within 5 feet to hear it.

Radio Shack should let you listen to it, depending on the sales guy. If I were you, I would try to listen to a couple. You can even buy several, connect them to a 9V battery (one at a time) and listen. Take back the ones you don't want (just be sure to be nice to the package so Radio Shack will take it back).

Sooooo......... how about posting that write up? thanks

The buzzer (actually a beeper) can be wired in without the relay, it won't affect the stock circuit at all.
see if you use a relay it will allow you to really hook up any type of buzzer small or larger and or a basic alarm siren too. Its only gonna be an extra 3 wires to hookup a relay. Id also recommend using a 5-10amp inline fuse on the main line thats in the trunk coming from the stock security system.

I hooked up a siren to mine connected the Positive to the orange/green stripe wire to one ( there's 3) closest to the solid orange, the solid orange runs to the BCM ground wire from the siren taps into this, no relay. Works great. The plug connection is as the Vqpower writeup. Easy mod, cheap too. I really like being able to arm the car and not always looking back at the lights to make sure it's armed.
i used the buzzer for ahwile and to me it sounds like an 80's car alarm.......i went and bought a back-up beeper for an auto store, and now it sounds like when a bmw locks.....much better.
do it the way that everyone has been saying. I did it the way using the relay and it was kinda confusing but it got done.

i used the 12v siren sounding one from radio shack.

Err wouldn't that be Oui Oui..... Oui Oui?
where is the best place to get these beepers? someone mentioned one sounding like a BMW. could you just go to the junkyard and yank one outta any car as long as it's a two wire hook-up, or what? (i am by no means electrically inclined)

I have a much better diagram for this install but I can't post attachments, if someone wants to email me at rtorres53@hotmail.com I will forward the diagram if you will post it in this forum.
sure. the remote control relay is in the back of the car, located near the assembly for the trunk latch. It is an orangish relay. You will find the green/orange wire I noted in the above diagram connecting to it. Tap into this wire and wire it to the SPDT relay on pin 85. As for the rest of the relay, ground out pins 86 and 30. Run a wire from pin 87 to the horn wire (should be green/white under the steering column). If it were me, I would normally include a 1 amp diode inline so feeback from using the horn or the car alarm wont go back into my circuit. However, it is not necessary with this particular setup because it runs back to a switch and cannot go anywhere.
To recap the pin connections:
86 - Ground
30 - Ground
85 - Green/Orange wire in the trunk (remote control relay)
87 - Green/White wire under the steering column (horn)
You can also use a SPST Relay for this application. It only has the pins you need and not the extra 87A. It might be easier to find or cheaper at your local autoparts store.

Thanks for all your help and the thorough reply. As usual I have more questions. Where is the SPDT/SPST relay? Seems like I'll have to buy one. But, this will be a cool mod. When I get some time, I will try doing it.
I'm going to go out to my car and look for the remote control relay.
Thanks, Aaron

hmmm
i have been thinking about doing this to my max ... just havent actually gone through with it. Maybe this weekend ill see what i can do..gotta borrow some tools and get to a store to find the schtuff. Any suggestsion on where would be the best place too look for something like this? is it in a kit or seperate parts?
ok guys...apparently you are new to electronics and I was not aware so I appologize for posts without more information. To start off with, this is all done with parts you pick up in your locality. It is not a kit....it is a simple design of a circuit that I made up using certain parts that you have to buy. First, the SPDT or SPST relay is in essence an electronic switch. You can pick one up at your favorite autoparts store. Look in the section near the foglights because a SPST relay is most commonly used for a foglight setup. You can pick up a SPST (4 pin) for about 5 bucks or less. If you went with a SPDT relay (5 pin) it would usually cost a little more so just go with the first one. If you have trouble finding a relay, talk to a person there and they will (should) be able to get you one right away.
You should also get some crimpable connectors to connect your wires to the relay. You will find these also in the autoparts store. You will want the female type. Here is a picture of what they look like.
Last but not least you will also probably want to pick up a package of plastic self tappers. It will make the tap into the horn and remote control relay easy.
They look like this. (the red plastic thing; the wiring is not included)
Because this is new to you, do not attempt to wire in a diode....for this basic setup, it is not needed.
So all together, you only need 3 cheap items to make this work; all available at your autostore. Use the above directions to install it and you should be golden.
