Otto Racing CAI

Otto Racing CAI
I purchased an Otto Racing CAI a while ago from procarparts. Because I am not the most car savy when it comes to screwing around in the engine bay, I was going to have it installed by someone else. Unfortunately the intake didn't come with instructions so this place won't install it. Anyone here have one and if so can you explain very briefly how to install it. I know I can rip out the stock intake/air box, but I am not sure how all the piping is going to fit. I thought the cone K&N was going to sit where the stock airbox is but the piping doesn't seem to line up there. Any pics would be appreciated too .... thanks.

a true cai will require cutting to put the filter in the wheel well. if its like the injen cai then it the filter will sit towards the bottom of the radiator. if they gave you a outline for cutting then you know where it is going. if not, then it is probably like the injen.

If this is a two piece intake than the only way the filter will sit on top of the stock airbox is if you just use the short ram setup. The cold air extension will require a hole. Its simple to hook up any short ram style intake. Take off the stock one and put on the new one making sure to install all the hoses you took off onto the new one. The filter might not sit exactly centered due to the older cai kits not having a slight bend to compensate for the angle. It will still work even though it might be a little crooked, it just won't look straight.

This is a shot of the intake. There is no way that pipe will make it down to the fender. I am pretty sure it will sit infront of the radiator ... injen-style. When I sat the intake just over the manifold to see where it would sit, it seemed like the battery and engine sit in the way. Are you supposed to move the battery out of the way? Also does anyone have a shot of an injen intake ... every single picture I see in the "post your engine pics" threads I do not see the cone filter.

That's definitely the Place Racing style, check out the instructions on the main page of maxima.org:
