Drivin Around W/ Cat Off

i just wanted to see how loud the max would sound w/o the cat (actually test pipe) so i did it a few minutes ago and it sounds so freaken loud. i really do hate it and it kinda sounds like a truck. i did experience a whole loss of high end power but how bad is it to be drivin w/ the cat off besides the emission thing.
i'm gonna try to put it back on tomm. just hope a cop doesn't come up next me.

I drove with only ypipe on and the sound was increadible, loud and mad lowend power loss, but midrange and top end was crazy. Not bad to drive like that.

On the top end I would break traction in 2nd, gained a lot of power ontop but lost a lot in low end and a tad in mid range. You got to try it, I had mustangs and camaro owners pull me over to find out wtf is going on. I even have a video posted online of me driving around. http://www.jatan.net/sonicdust187.wmv

That sounds pretty crazy, but I def think they put cat converters on the car for a reason. Of course as I always say, its your car, so do what you like!

Emissions and noise is mainly why they're there.

Were you wearing ear plugs to do that "testing"? I couldn't get myself past 3K when I had no catback on. Its earshattering.

i have no clue wht ur talkin about. of course i have something to replace my old cat as i stated in the first post, a racing straight pipe. i dunno about 96's but my cat certainly does not end near my gas tank .

WTF? please don't try too much of that stunt! Let the cops catch you doing that, they'll give you a huge ticket: improper equipment, and environmental pollution violations will get you big bucks thrown. be really careful with that stuff man. also the heat coming outta your headers are really hot even at the y section. drive fast enough, you might spit fire sometimes. then heck breaks loose, you might lit up the fuel tank!!! (heating up the fuel tank will increase internal pressure and superheat the gasoline inside)=====DANGER!!!

depends on type. i have the CM built in resonator.

Alright, i got my pipe back on but magically i lost one of my bolt nut. the rear bolts are fastened but up front, theres only one bolt fastened and w/o the gasket cause it produced a very raspy sound b/c the gasket wasn't sealed tight.

so i'm drivin around with my pipe partially opened which still kinda makes a deep tone,
less than w/o a pipe completely. is it okay to run around w/ a gas leak for a while until i get that nut? it can't be worse than drivin w/o a cat.
