PLEASE HELP - Did I just kill my starter???
Today, I set out to regrease my starter since I was getting that infamous vvvwweeeehhh sound on start up occasionally. In my haste, and after removing everything needed up until actually taking off my starter, I hadn't disconnected the battery. When I took an open-ended wrench to get a wire off of the starter, so that I could then remove the two bolts holding the starter to the block, I gave it a 1/2 turn, saw a spark, and immediately removed the wrench. I learned then, and removed the battery totally, and continued to disassemble my starter. Upon putting everything back together, I tried to turn the key, only to get a "click" when it was turned to the start position, and another click when I let the key back to the On position (kind of like engaging, then disengaging). I took everything back apart, even the starter itself, reassembled, and still wouldn't start. I tried to jump my car, hoping that it had been drained through that little reaction, but no go. I didn't leave them hooked up very long though, so maybe I didn't give the battery long enough to gain enough to start (::finger's crossed and hopefully thinking::.).
Cliff notes:
Battery is connected, spark happens when removing starter, car won't start even with a jump (however the jump may not have been successful; I STILL HAVE DASHLIGHTS)
Help me out guys, and PLEASE keep the flaming to a minimum, because I know it was fuggin stupid of me. Thanks in advance.
Lou

Nismo, you are the effin man. It seems as though I blew a fusible link - the same one that is connected with the security system. I locked the doors, reached in, unlocked, and the alarm didn't go off. Thanks again.

I just tried switching another fusible link to the start/anti theft, and I got the same clicking/no start, and the alarm wouldn't sound under the above test.

bump to the top, one more thing to add: my dash lights work, so does that little beep when you get in the car. Power windows, locks still working too, as well as my headunit. Headlights/taillights are also functioning.
Would this rule out the main fuse? (I'm still unsure of where to look for the main fuse). The fusible link I was referring to at the above post was found on the left side of the engine bay, looking from the front.

dude look right underneath the steering wheel column AND a little to the left...then pull out that little cover piece..on the backside there should be little square with words in them that represent each fuse..then find starter fuse (which should be the 8th one down from the far right column lebeled * start sig*) and you got it...if it still doesnt work...open your hood and check the fuse boxes and do the same thing..and try to find a fuse for the starter (if there even is one under your hood) and change it...if all else fails let us know...MAKE SURE TO TRY THE FUSE BOX THAT IS A BIT UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN TO THE LEFT SIDE FIRST)

ok..well open up your hood..i believe there are 2 - 3 other fuse boxes..one near your battery, and 1 - 2 other boxes on the opposite side of the engine (check those out if possible) R U sure that you checked the right fuse in the fuse box next to the steering column? I did that once..blew out my cig lighter fuse and somehow kept checking the wrong one...i was like wtf?

Probly not related, but try tapping on the body of the starter. I did this to what we thought was my buddies dead starter, and it started. But if you have to tap it to make it work, chances are you will need a new starter in the future.

I used the tube with Lithium Grease RED that says something about high temp something. on the back in the description says about the lithium soap based grease. <-- which is what i was looking for. and be careful (suggestion do it on a table) while taking back, cleaning and reassembling the starter...especially the rubber gasket inside of it cuz if you put it wrong the big screws wont go in.

Wait, you saw spark. And? When I put a screwdriver across the + and - on the starter, it turns the starter and creates spark. This is what you do to test if the strter is working. Why did yours blow? Also the alarm needs 30 seconds or a few minutes to "engage" you can arm the alramn and open the door right away all day and the alarm will not go off.
