i was actually looking at that same CAI myself. under my hood so all red so i wanted to keep with the color scheme, but i had the same question about the quality. anyone else have opinions? what makes say an injen better than that one?

It's all in the stickies . . . or check out http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaIntakes
People will argue about what the gains are if any. From personal experience, I did not feel any performance improvements. Injen is not the same as CAI, it's more of a hot air intake, but I dont want to start this argument, it's been done before, many many times...

That doesn't make alot sense either. Where does he get all this information. If the stock intake was better "thoughout" the powerband, doesn't that inlcude the "low-end"?

Expect 1-3hp increase if any. I would say people do Cold Air Intake just for the looks and sounds. Stock intake has more low end torque but nothing too noticeable. You would only notice the difference because after you install a CAI, you feel like a racer and step on the gas all the way all the time and thinking your car is going faster now that you have CAI.

Do you have some dyno proof of that? My cai is actually very quiet.

I think my car was quicker off the throttle with just a cone filter and the stock midpipe. With cold air, it doesn't seem to respond as well at lower speed, check the dyno results with a search on google or something. At higher speeds the car seems to respond better. Most racers (professional street) run CAI. There is a reason for it. Most people like me thought the car would be faster...low end no, higher end I feel a difference on the butt dyno. There are other threads on this debate. I still have my stock midpipe. I'm gonna try and see how it responds after putting it back on and mating it with the cold air pipe.
Who is to say what the best intake is when they are designed for different results. If a car can go 0 to 60 in 2.5 sec but the top speed is only 80, (lets just say) if it was a race car, it would benefit in the 1/8. In the 1/4 the car would get ate up. I'm not saying stock is bad, it could be the best intake for a maxima for overall performance, but it drops off after 5200. A cold air gain higher than stock at faster speeds (speeds over 100mph), thus most REAL racers use them. For everyday driving it's probably better to stay stock or just cone filter. That's why I said if you race in the 1/4 you may benefit from having a cold air, this is not bible, just my .02 theory.

cai long tube = better low end
hai short tube = better high end
In theory anyway. Your description contradicts typical long/short header theory that still applies here. Try the cai with the stock mid pipe.
