something is wrong !
I have a 96 GXE 5 spd. and I can't put it in fisrt or second!! usualy you can pull the shifter towards you and pop it in first or second but it won't go passed third and forth gear i could go fift and reverse with out any trouble.... now if i want to bring it in to get it fixed I have to start from third gear ... and try to not stop the hole way there ...
do I need a new clutch ??
btw the clutch was doing some noises before. I was told the berings in the clutch was no good ....
any info would be nice...

Thank you for the detailed description of symptoms. It does not sound like a bad clutch. More likely it is a problem with the shifter or the interlock mechanism inside the transmission. Let's hope it is the shifter because removing and opening the transmission will be expensive.

What did your problem end up being? How much did it cost to fix?
Thanks
