5 speed owners please step in!!
Hey guys, I did the complete transmission service a few days ago. And before that shifting was perfect(no grinding, nothing at all, by the way it has been done at the local Mobil 1, which me and all my friends use all the time) and right now when I roll about 15-20 mph in neutral I can not get into the second gear, only after pressing and releasing clutch a few times!!!!!! But when I shift from 1st and up it's fine Any help is appreciated!!
Its a 98 SE with 96k miles

i think there are some bolts on the bottom of the trans that look like drain plugs but actually have springs and bearings in them...if they accidently took one of those out and lost the hardware that could be a problem. it doesnt make sense that the only gear that is acting strange is second.

What do you mean by "the complete transmission service?" Are you talking about draining and filling the transaxle gear oil? If so, did you use GL4 in an 80W90 or 75W90? Whatever you do, do not use GL5 or something specified GL4/GL5!
Did you bleed the slave cylinder and replace the clutch fluid by any chance?

Hmmmmm...... that's weird that it says GL5 is okay. But stick with GL4 to stay on the safe side.
Why? GL5 has some kind of sulfer in the fluid which will eventually deteriorate tranny's that use brass components, such as our manual maximas.
GL4 does not.
