It could be the garage door unit is not compatible with the visor remote. I recall reading it here on the BBS some time back. There are certain brands that it won't work with.

I dont think you should have a problem with your compatiblity, if you have big name garage door opener, and it isn't brand spankin new. The new ones prolly have a new algorithm scheme for the codes that the max doesnt have (assuming you have a 4th gen of course...) I dont think that there is anything wrong with the opener, since it is always hot at 12volts not switched (I think, without a fuse anywhere). I have a craftsman opener (4 years old) ... Worked the first time I tried... Good luck.

I have the same problem, but my opener is an ancient All-O-Matic. I don't think the car is the problem, but I'm not ready to buck up for a new opener! Did you try the Canadian programming routine too (you have to cycle/pulse the remote)?

Garage Door Opener

WHen I tried to program mine it did not work. I have a 4th gen and just bought a new house. So, I had the GDO(Garage Door Opener) manual. It said to reset the GDO by pressing a red button on the back. I did that and then reprogrammed the two remotes and then tried the max and it worked!!!! BUt sometimes I have to press the button twice on the max and other times only once. But hey, I always carry the remote regardless so that I am not locked out. But the GDO works.

Now I am trying to program my security system remote too. But ADT said that it will not work. Anybody did that with the ADT security system? Does it work?

I have not had any success with my garage door opener.I've tried numerous times but I can't get the visor controls to work. Maybe my garage door isn't compatible?

Mine worked when I did it.

I think I might now what the problem with some of your guys' garage door openers might be. If you have a rolling code on your garage door opener, there is another way you have to program it. I forget how though.

I have a rolling code system on my Craftsman opener and the Max didnt have a problem with it... Our '99 Town and Country Limited van did at first, but then finally obtained the algorithm... Homelink (the visor buttons) are designed to learn the algorithms, not just the radio frequency... (That's what I have heard...)

so, does that mean that you can go open anybody's garage? Also does the battery need replacing after a while?
