dropping cross member motor mount

for those who have replaced the front and rear motor mount, it's on the cross member. Well, if I drop those, do I need to support the engine as I drop the crossmemeber? or can I drop them unsupported and will the other mounts hold the engine up? How many other mounts are there?

btw what are the torque specs for the motor mount bolts and the cross member bolts?

You will need to jack the engine up somewhere else to hold it up. Typically people have used a piece of wood and a bottle jack under the oil pan.

you will also need to adjust the height of the engine using the jack to make everything fit back together

my shifts are very hard. the whole car jars. I have the stage 2 vb mod. I hope that my transmission mount is not shot too. I know that the front and rear are because the engine rocks back and forth when put into gear. And this also causes an exhaust rattle. But I don't know how to tell if the tranny mount is shot. any suggestions?
